Routes
There are four routes available. The 3.5km Family fun cycle is aimed at getting kids on their bikes - under 10's to be accompanied by their parents. 25km will appeal to beginners and teenagers.144km Route
This
early season challenge is not for the faint hearted.
It is designed to act as a kick start for those of you
who hung up the bike for the long evenings and are
eager to get back into some challenging activity. For
those that braved the cold and wet winter weather, it
is time step up your preparations and be part of this
charitable inaugural event.
Cyclists
will commence their journey from the Salthill
Knocknacarra GAA clubhouse, Dr Mannix road, Salthill,
cycling North towards Headford, circumventing Lough
Corrib in an anticlockwise direction the route will
take in Headford, Cross, Cong and finally Clonbur for
a very welcome fuel/food stop.
Following
this well earned break cyclists will continue on to
Finny, passing Lough Mask on the right and traverse
the challenging Maamtrasna Mountain. After the
descent, cyclists will travel on to Maam Bridge,
through Maam Cross to Scríob, where cyclists will be
directed left for the village of Casla and the second
food stop.

Now fully
recharged, cyclists will continue the final leg of the
journey through Baile na hAbhann where cyclists will
take in the first glimpse of Galway Bay since their
departure from Salthill hours earlier. The refreshing
sea breeze could assist (or hinder) your progress on
to the Gaeltacht villages of Indreabhán, An Spidéal
and Bearna, turning right at Bearna Cross for the
welcome sight of Salthill and a well earned rest.

100km Route
This slightly shorter route also starts at Salthill
Knocknacarra GAA clubhouse, Dr Mannix road, Salthill.
Cyclists will proceed through Newcastle and out the
Moycullen road. After passing Oughterard, they
continue to Maam Cross (Peacocks) where they will turn
left - at this point they are merging with the 144km
route.They continue to Scríob,
where cyclists will be directed left for the village
of Casla and the food stop.
After refueling, cyclists will continue
the final leg of the journey through Baile na hAbhann
and then follow the coast in through Indreabhán,
An Spidéal and Bearna. Turn right at Bearna cross
towards Salthill and finish at Dr Mannix Road.

3.5km Salthill Family Fun Cycle
This is a fun cycle for children and families. This
event is designed to get families active together
through cycling and help raise funds for Voices for Down
Syndrome Galway and the juvenile section of Salthill
Knocknacarra GAA Club.
Departing Salthill Knocknacarra GAA Club, family
cyclists/ runners/ walkers will guide their bikes to
Threadneedle Road and cycle down to Salthill Promenade.
From here participants will cycle/run/walk on through
Upper Salthill towards Devon Park and subsequently
taking a left onto Dr. Mannix Road and return to
Salthill Knocknacarra GAA Clubhouse. Families with
smaller children may decide to turn left at Leisureland
Complex and on through Rockbarton Road and back to
Salthill Knocknacarra GAA Clubhouse.
