144k: 8am - CANCELLED DUE TO HIGH WINDS IN EXPOSED AREAS -
All cyclists will do the 100k route.
Because we have arranged Garda cooperation for traffic management
within Galway city, we start bang on time - so do not be late !
Check-in desks will be open at 7am
At registration, a sheet with map and contact phone numbers will be available. Please take one. Route will be signposted with the large 4’x4’ posters that we used to advertise the event.
100k route - One stop at Casla- watch for sign to turn off main road. This is 65km into your route.
At registration, all participants will be issues with a wristband – do not put it on your wrist! Attach the band to your saddle or saddle bag. This will allow support vehicles and other cyclists to recognize you as a WLAC participant - if they do not see the band support vehicles might assume you are a cyclist not involved in our event.
This is not a race and normal rules of the road apply. There will be a Garda escort for the first few kilometers to get us through Galway town traffic, and where the Garda guide you, breaking lights is permitted.
We do not have an official event finish time as we encourage all participants to take on this challenge regardless of their speed, but please respect the fact that it is a volunteer-run charity event and full finish line facilities might not be available after 3pm.
Helmets are mandatory.
Safety Officer is Niall Murphy. His number is 086 8399996 - put
it in your phone now. That is the number to ring for any issues on
the course or in an emergency. Please do not ring 999 unless other
contact attempts have failed. We have ambulances on standby which
will reach you more quickly than the response you will get from
